The CMYAwards has been conducted by the CIOB for 40 years. The Awards see the CIOB present 12 gold medals and, crown, one, overall Construction Manager of the Year.
Our Stuart Johnstone has been selected as a finalist in the New Build & Refurbishment in the £20-36 Million 2016 category.
Stuart’s nomination was in connection to the role he played in the successful delivery of the renowned KidZania Project, Westfield, London.
KidZania, is an 75,000 ft2 two-storey “edutainment” indoor theme park, it is a city built to scale for children and is complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles and recognisable destinations in the form of “establishments” sponsored and branded by leading multi-national and local brands.
KidZania recreates adult work places, such as operating theatres, plane cockpits, TV studios and banks, all at two thirds life-size, where children will play at carrying out jobs.
A pivotal moment in the build was when an 11 metre, 17 tonne A319 fuselage, was lifted over 100ft into the side of the Westfield building. This pivotal moment as well as other key milestones in the programme formed the content of the presentation Stuart gave to the judges as part of the selection process. The presentation was accompanied by an interview and a two hour site visit which enabled Stuart to present his and the RISE team’s achievements.
The winners will be announced on 15 September 2016 during the awards ceremony at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
